Six settings that save your battery
Most mobile games have a settings menu you never open, and that's a mistake if you care about battery. The first thing I do with any new game is drop the frame rate cap if there's one. Sixty frames looks nice, but thirty is often plenty and cuts drain noticeably.
Brightness is the obvious one, but people forget it. Games trick you into cranking it up, especially the flashy ones. Knock it down a couple notches and your eyes adjust in a minute.
Turn off haptics if you don't love them. The vibration motor pulls more power than you'd think, and in a lot of games the buzzing adds nothing. Same goes for background music if you're listening to something else anyway.
Finally, check for a battery or 'lite' graphics mode. More games have one now, and it usually just trims particle effects and shadows you weren't looking at. Combine a few of these and a heavy game becomes a lot more travel-friendly.
